Tell us about yourself!

I may be an amateur of many things, but I also have insatiable passions. I play many instruments, but I can only play three well: piano, tenor saxophone, and accordion. I grow many things in my garden, but cacti rule the ground in my backyard. I'm a bibliophile with a collection of books that take over half my room, and the other half is full of pictures, cameras, negatives, and notes. My life is constant learning and I love it.

Now tell us a little bit about your blog and what sparked you to start it?

Let It Be Raw began as a way to organize my photography and share it with friends. The name came from a friends description of my photography as "raw, grainy, and nostalgic". This blog has become a larger part of my life recently as my passion for photography has grown into a career pursuit.

What are your top 5 simple pleasures?

1. smelling the earth right before it rains. 
2. writing in cursive. 
3. hearing the click of a camera shutter. 
4. petting my kitties. 
5. drinking tea.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a ballerina, vet, baseball player, cat, musician, teacher, artist, and many other things.

Cake or pie?

I've thought of this before, but I haven't done it yet: pie-cake. It's a pie inside a cake.

Tell us about yourself! 

My name is Sarah and I am a school librarian by day, writer by after school and blogger by night. I like to share my writing and stories about my life over at desirousofeverything.com

Now tell us a little bit about your blog and what sparked you to start it? 

I started blogging back in 2008 as a way to get my name out there as a writer. But then in 2011, I suddenly had a change of heart.  I wasn't blogging that often even though I enjoyed it when I did.  I didn't want to get rid of my blog but was feeling a little trapped having to post about the same subject all of the time.  So I made a change and decided to write more of a lifestyle blog with a focus on creativity and writing.  My blog is a place for things that make me happy, a positive place where I like to keep it real and get personal sometimes. Please stop by and say hello!  I'd love to meet you.

What is one of your favorite quotes and why? 

One of my favorite quotes in from On The Road by Jack Kerouac and was the inspiration for the name of my blog. I actually wrote this quote on the back of my bedroom door in high school while reading On The Road and later wrote my first novel, THE MAD ONES around it.  “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes "Awww!”

What are your top 5 simple pleasures? 

Smelling clothes right after the come out of the dryer, stepping on an ice puddle and feeling it crack beneath my feet, listening to my cats purr when I pet them, eating the skin off of roasted chicken right when it comes out of the oven and sleeping in a bed with fresh, clean flannel sheets.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? 

I used to want to be a life guard in Cape May, NJ. I figured I loved going to the beach and swimming, so this would be the perfect career.

Cats purring is one of lifes greatest simple pleasures! My cat purrs so loud when he gets excited he coughs a little.
